Bajirao mastani is a the showcase of love affair between Peshwa Bajirao and princess Mastani. The film was in development for 15 years, Bhansali wanted to make the film after Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. However, several times, the production was delayed due to the changing cast. It’s a historical love affair based on real life incidents in the 18 th century. It shows the struggle between true love and compulsions to follow orthodox tradition which are pointless on the face of true love.
Sanjay leela bhansali’s beautiful cinematography manages to capture this struggle faced between the two love struck souls restricted by the worldly beliefs. The set created and the costumes truly gets the viewers in the mood, making the movie favorites for many.
