As it is a Sanjay Leela Bhansali film, you must expect that the movie ought to be scaled up. Though the movie is’nt a document of the history. This is a story of the 1700s, when there was Maratha Empire in’Dakkhan’ region and the diligency with which the Peshva Bajirao( Ranveer Singh) fights in the battles with his big armies.
Then in between the battle, is the dashing entry of Mastani bai(Deepika Padukone), and there starts the strong chemistry between the two. The twist is that Bajirao is already married to Kashi bai(Priyanka Chopra).
Then as both of them closer, Mastani bai sacrifices everything and comes to live with the typical Bamman family of Bajirao wherein she herself is a Muslim.
She is ready to endure every pain for marrying Bajirao. There is typical upbringing of the streotypes people had among the religions in the past. There is a lusty Triangle formed among the three.
The movie is also mainly focused upon the Dialogues and more importantly the costumes they had. The costumes are a trend and have always been grander then Grand in a Sanjay Leela Bhansali film.
Ranveer is just present in the movie with a swagger look, studded with full confidence and mind blowing body language. His dialogues are very heavy, of the type that everyone would like to remember after watching the movie.
The performance by Kashibai was very nice, of a marathi accent. Though she is very hurt, but still she sticks to her role and plays a lovable character, she is so much into the movie, putting all her maximum efforts.
Mastani bai, the film is centered more towards her, while watching the movie. one always want her to be present in every scene . She fights with all the social ethics and still lives for her love. The act played by her is truly sentimental types.Her work needs harder appreciation.
The director handles his performers with similar sensitivity and intelligence, and all three offer real star turns
The songs are good but also boring tracks like’pinga’ and’dola re’ are there.
