One of the best real, college show

Who can forget this serial? Diya and Tony Singh’s best serial. All those moments of my high school life passed by watching this wonderful serial. The characters, story, picturization were so real. I guess there was no serial at that time that had so many actors roped in one. Many characters came to the lime light - Karan, Ritcha, Ritu, Riya, Ashley, Priya, Rahul, Vicky, Nikita Seth, mrs. Amrita Seth, Radha, Kabir, Mr.Som, Pheku, Manav, and many more.

Each character was portrayed excellently. There were lot of shades in every character. The characters were so realistic in nature. Anyone could have associated with that character. Even extra marital affairs and sincere committment in married life were portrayed side by side.

There were some open issues discussed quite bravely and at that time it was a taboo talking such things openly just as sex, sex education, affairs, illegal children etc.

The events shown were pretty real. The college life was the limelight. Those flirting characters, real romantic ones, college campus, teachers getting teased, - all typical of a college were shown. hence many youngsters, school and college goers became the active auidence watching it.

As the college life gets over and each one gets into their business, the transition was very nicely shown. The background music, sets, realistic lights, good camera work attracted everyone unlike the glamorous and artificial lights of today’s serials. Everyone wore simple contemporary clothes - both men and women. Be it saris, minis, maxis, skirts, chudidars, jeans - women wore everything. Even men wore all kinds of outfits, formal and traditional dresses.

On parallel lines, contemporary business life was shown. How rich people curb the poor ones, how 2 different women - one business and housewife perceived life were clearly shown.

It was a gamut of characters and each was different. The direction must be given due credit because showing so many characters in an episode at that time was a challenging task.

The serial gave many actors a very good break - Irfan Khan, Shefali Chhaya, Firdaus Dadi, Sadia Siddiqui, Anita Kanwal, Divya Seth, Achint Kaur, Rishabh, Varun Badola, Rakhi Tandon and many more

What was very unique about the serial’s ending track every episode was that they showed names of actors based on the families they portrayed - like Aggarwals, Seths, Khannas, mehras, Sharmas etc.It was very nice. The title track is still one of my favourites
