Good news for Bangaloreans. Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagar Palike has put in place a good system where you can raise your concerns and they will be addressed immediately. Kindly get in touch with BBMP officer in your particular area and make sure to raise your concerns. I will share my experience regarding garbage collection:
I am a resident of Vidyaranyapura. We have a system where the garbage is collected at doorstep. Every morning there comes a women who stops at every house and collects garbage wastes. She is extremely rude to residents and screams filthy language in Kannada. If we bribe her with some money, she will keep quite and move away taking the garbage. This morning the garbage collector women came and took away the garbage from my home. She spotted some used cotton from my dustbin and started abusing me with dirty language in Kannada. All my neighbors came out rushing and she displayed cotton to everyone. I did not understand as why she was screaming looking at some cotton buds. Then I got to know from localities that it is her usual way to get money out of residents(I shifted to this new home just 1.5 months back). I was very furious to know this and did not scold her but just told her to leave the place.
I was very disturbed by this entire incident and spoke to the BBMP Vidyaranyapura officer. The gentleman gave me the number of a local supervisor and I spoke to the supervisor and explained the situation to him. The supervisor reached my home in less than 30 minutes and spoke to my father(I was in office). He also told the garbage women that she will be removed from work.The women came rushing to my home and pleaded to my father. She wanted the job to feed her family. She wanted to say sorry to me and request me to get back her job. I spoke to the supervisor and told him to warn her and retain her job. If she repeats this behavior then she will be removed from work.
Residents of Vidyaranyapura 3rd Block(or any other area), please raise your concern and we all have rights to get respect. Let us join together and make this place peaceful to live. Your concerns will be addressed immediately. Happy clean city:)
