The first question that pops up in the mind of the discerning reader is usually something along the lines of - is this guy good enough to review? Well, ...considering the fact that I spent two wonderful years here slogging my lower posterior off, I feel that I am amply qualified.
Jokes apart .....I think anything said about this city, is saying too little. I mean - youre talking a fast-paced nightlife, cosmo-culture, wonderful people, some of the best eateries in the country, IT haven- all rolled into one. Honestly, one might think Blore is like Peter Pan on an extended growth potion ....almost like it grew up too fast, too soon. Thats probably why youll se a stark contrast between the older parts of the city, and the commercial district along MG Road, Residency and Richmond Circle....the roads there are better, and so is the traffic. One other thing - the public transport in this place is straight out of the Jurassic era, as are the buses, ...so most people go for a two-wheeler. Once you have that, half your troubles are over. The other half consists in finding a suitably good looking member of the opposite sex to go around with on weekends.
This city is ALIVE. The people are warm and friendly, theres an active art-circuit, a vibrant pub-culture, shoppers heaven on Commercial Road and Brigades, ......the list goes on.
The best part is, it packs big-city pleasures in small city surroundings. Life is unhurried, and you get used to the pace very quickly. Once youve done that, you realise that your choices are unlimited. You can either sit at home and laze on warm winter afternoons ( summers are cool too!), or join the gay exodus making tracks for MG Road. Catch a few movies at the Plaza or Symphony, gorge at Foodworld, KFC or The Only Place, or just sit on the sidewalk and take in the crowds jostling for space on the crowded footpath.
This city grows on you ....thats the least I can say for Bangalore.
