I have been a satisfactory customer of Bank of America since 2002. Very good network of ATM and customer service. I opened my account in CA. When I moved to Oregon, I opened a joint account with my wife in Bank of America, Oregon. I must say Bank of America - Oregon comes under different network and do have different customer service numbers and a different system connected to login.
First of all, I never received account opening bonus which is around $35 (for checking and saving).
Second thing is that out of state deposit need to deposited in the branch. This was communicated by Bank of America personnel. Though I think I can deposit but when it comes to salary checks, I prefer to deposit thru branch as per what customer service personnel of Bank of America said.
Another thing is that after depositing, online system would indicate a ’pending deposits/transaction’ for a day only. It would disappear next day and ’pending transaction’ value will NOT appear at all. Further after 24 to 48 hours, one would see it in ’cleared’ transaction as one does for normal transactions.
I did not know who made the program, but at first it can scare you if you deposit out of state deposit of a big amount. I think overall experience with Bank of America would be considered satisfactorily. They stop charging for online payments long before others did. They track things well ( I wrote wrong amount on deposit slip while depositing a check in ATM and customer service on phone could track it).
