I originally opened an account at this bank when they opened in my city. They were offering free checking and free checks. I like free.
They were true to their word and still have the free checking. The only draw back is that you have to deposit through the automatic teller machines and not through the teller at the window.
They have banks all over the United states. There is a difference in Bank Of America and Bank Of America California. That is where I ran in to trouble.
Normally when I deposit a check the funds are available immediately. I have never had a problem depositing even through the ATM and then withdrawing. Until I got a check that was written on the Bank Of America California. It was a large check and I was planning on using it for my vacation.
I did not know the problems that I would run into. I had to wait till the check cleared and the funds cleared. Even though it was a Bank of America California and the funds could be easily checked. Or so I thought. These two banks are not the same thing.
That is why, unless you have a Bank Of America California checking account, you cannot do the online banking. I really hope that this changes , It is a real drawback for this bank.
I had to stand in line and do a lot of belly aching before I could withdraw enough money to take my trip the day after I received the check from bank of america california.
Other then that, I have had wonderful service from the Bank of America. The tellers are almost always nice and do not hassle you when you. They have free money orders when you use their banking service and also free safety deposit boxes, This is with the 10.00 a month checking account.
You can call 24 hours a day to see what checks have cleared and to get your current balance. If you have a problem and call the help line over the phone. The people that work in the customer service department are always really nice and helpful over the phone.
If you are traveling out of town, there are ATM’s all over the country that you can use to withdraw money from. I think all in all this is a wonderful bank to do business with.
