I had Bank of India’s Master Card. This card was valid till the end of November. I was no longer interested
in retaining this card by paying further annual fees. Given that scenario, I had requested the concerned
authorities to close this card account. This notice was given at least two months prior to the expiry date
of the card. There are no dues on this card either.
For security reasons, I had cut this card into pieces and attached it along with the application sent to the Bank. The passbook for the credit card account (a strange practice of BOI for cash withdrawals) was also attached with my application. I did not receive any confirmation from the Bank acknowledging the fact that they have closed this account. However, I thought that account was already closed.
To my utter surprise, in early December, I have found that the Bank has auto debited the annual fees for the card from my savings account with the Bank. Then I wrote to the Bank asking them to refund that amount to my savings account, as I have already asked for closing this account. However, nothing has been done and I did not get the refund either. I did not even had any card, and still I have to pay the annual fees!!!
