SEO Politics Version 3. Dragged into politics and cheated-
Being a peaceful content writer for SEO in BankBazaar is the toughest job ever in this world.
We used to complete our work as always perfectly and go home. But one day I was called for personal meeting with senior manager. I thought I did some mistakes and I was called in for personal meeting(outside of the office. not official).(Because, I never made mistake and I always received good feedback from my client SEO people and from my manager) But it is not about my work. It is about the work I am going to do for his personal politics. Initially when Sr. manager Inder asking, I thought I am going to be promoted and I will get reward for all these new work. I was asked to report directly about what is happening inside and outside of our team without knowing of my colleagues and manager. In other words spying(unofficially)
5 to 6 reporting happened like this(Unofficially outside of the office) my teammates find out about these meetings and they started to keep distance from me. One another day I found something smoking within my team that I even under radar by my new friends(to report to sr manager) Now I realized I was played for whole time and cheated. Even though when I was doing my work properly =(my productivity is decreased once started doing his politics game. Because I needed to spend extra time for that)= I was listed in flag list for under performance. Completely Cheated:(
I should have refused when he asked me to do his politics. But I cannot refuse. Since he is senior manager it was very difficult choice for me. If I refused, I would have been under his personal politics radar and finally he will touch my appraisal. But now even though doing his personal politics I am under double spy program and played by his politics.
Seriously?
Because of this ego politics game,
Simply advice-
Please make sure, your team members are real resource for you. If you don’t need anyone of them you should have not recruited them in first place. They are not a waste paper to toss it to trash. Ego and personal problems will not make you a leader.
