Barista has been around for a while and everyones raving about it. Sure why not, its probably one of the best places to hang out - very chilled out atmosphere. Yo0u can even sit there alone and sip on your cup of coffee and catch up with your reading.
and the coffees not bad too :)
I have found the coffee quite good, I wouldnt say great. There are couple of things that always annoy me at Barista - all the braches that I have visited in Mumbai.
- I find the staff quite condescending, arrogant too. Its one thing to be helpful and suggest different new coffees and toppings you could try and another thing to persistently suggest that the customer order something else.
Example: I am usually a tea drinker but when I have coffee I like it black. On 4 occasions I tried to order black coffee I found myself being persuaded to try Latte. theres usually a couple of are you sure? and then I assure them : Yes, I want a black coffee, Just give me what I want!
- The food is BAD. Almost everytime (3 times) I have ordered sandwiches or the doughnuts, I have found it to be not fresh. certainly not upto the mark, considering that its quite pricey.
I have found the Coffee to be consistently good - no complaints there!
Because its a great place, LOTS of people hang out there and with lots of people it gets noisy! - the Bandra Linking road outlet is always crowded and one has to shout to be heard over the noise.
Other outlets mostly nariman point, and Cuffe parade and OK and not that crowded.

I would write about all the coffees, if I have drunk all of them.
But I dont.
I prefer black coffee and thats what I stick to. I usually have the Espresso Black and have had the Cafe mocha once and I found it nice. So if youre at Barista you should definitely try that.
I havent tried any of the other stuff so I cant recommend it.
Tip: The staff many suggest flavours like hazelnut etc., but you have to pay extra fr that. The cafe Mocha is abt 45 bucks, adding a flavour can increase the cost of the coffee to abt 65 bucks.
