Barista is really catching on with the young crowd of delhi like a fever.Though there is nothing to justify this craze.
The restuarant has chains of coffee bars which sell coffee and sandwiches at an highly exorbitant price.
The moment you enter you are greeted with a well lit but equally loud music going on.How can you have a tete a tete with someone if constantly rock music bombards your ears and attention is distracted by the match on a huge tv screen?
Then the chairs and tables arenot exactly coffee house/relaxing style. They have the high pub style which I feel is the hidden message that like alcohol you are hooked on to us.
There is more of non coffee drinks like ginger ale/guava crush/lemonades etc than coffee. In fact by offering so many types of cofees the average person is confused and the only one laughing the way to the banks is Barista!
For all I care a good coffee house should have dull music unobtrusive service and cofee neither too strong or light and one doesnt have to rack ones brains to decide what to order.
The eateries are so horribly expensive that perhaps only the yuppies and carefree income guys(and gals) can afford it.I mean grilled sandwhich with tomatoes and salad leaves and little mayoinesse in between for 45/= is really too much.
Average plate of sandwhich and cup of medium cappuchino cofee(this is the most frugal order possible!!) comes to 60/-!
O.K scrabble is there so is a guitar but attention is always distracted by the noise and noisy crowd which comes. This was bound to happen as people who have money also tend to be noisy!!
So if you are looking for a quite relaxed cup of coffee avoid but if you want to impress your girlfriend/boyfriend sure enter by all means!!
