Can't Stop. Can't Get Enough!

I’ve been listening to this album for the past month and a half. It has become a part of my daily routine now. I wake up in the morning and listen to it as I get dressed for work. Barson Huey, the first song on Side A, is usually my ’’shaving song’’. Woh Shaamey, the second last song on Side B, is my ’’breakfast song’’. On days when inconvenient power cuts prevent me from playing this album, I feel vaguely dissatisfied as though something is missing from my life.

At night after my TV viewing is done, I listen to the album all over again. I know all the songs by heart. I can sing along loudly, much to the irritation of my wife (she loves the album too, but hates me singing. Period) Of course, I can’t sing along with Chandrani’s Palkon Pe Tha. The pitch she’s taken is killing!

Now for all those out there who think that I am recommending this album simply because I am crazy about it — you are wrong! In my opinion, this is a Must-Buy album for the following reasons:

The Sound: It’s awesome! It’s richer than anything I have heard in the past few years, ever since Euphoria’s Maeri. It’s that perfect blend of guitars, seasoned vocals and natural percussion that reminds you of the music of the sixties and seventies when music directors worked hard instead of sitting around, pressing buttons on a computer.

The Lyrics: The attractive songwriter on this album has got a lot more than looks. She’s got the gift of the Writer’s Art as well. Listen to these songs and do a rudimentary comparison of their lyrics with those of other songs going around right now (Tera Suroor, Jhalak Dikhlaja, Meter Down, etc) and you’ll see what I mean. These are top notch https://lyrics. You’d expect an elderly grey-haired, stubble-cheeked bloke writing such mature stuff, not some young light-hearted gal. What a surprise!

The Tunes: At the cost of sounding clichéd, let me say that if you are looking for something really different, this is an album you can’t miss. Each tune is a masterpiece. This guy, Sanjo, is a genius. Where does he draw his inspiration from? Where does he manage to find ten blockbuster tunes like these? Just listen to Barson Huey (the song) and you’ll know what is this ’’difference’’ I am talking about.

Okay, so I have been waxing eloquent for some time now, but I hope you’ve got the got the message. Barson Huey (the album) is like Visa Power… Go Get It!
