I placed order number : 10084262 on order date : Aug 23, 2012 , for a shoe of size 6
I have received a shoe of size 7. Same thing had happened with an earlier order of handbag - we orders a crescent-shaped brown bag as displayed on the website, what we received was a rectangular black bag. When i tried to enter the complaint into their website, it asks me for a "order number" and a "sub order number". But in the entire order process, as well as their acknowledgement emailed to me, there is no sub-order number
As such, when you lodge the complaint on the webiste without this non-existent sub-order number, it wipes all the data off the page with the comment "sub order number not valid"
As such, bata can claim to have a website up and running, and having no complaints - how can there be complaints on their stupid record, if they dont allow you to log the complaint on the basis of a non-existing sub order number ?

The customer care number printed on their bill (generated from anna salai, chennai) lists a Delhi number, which does not respond
When you do get connected to their second "customer care" phone number as printed as printed on their delivery bag (a gurgaon number) , the telephone operator says it is an office number and customer care and puts down the phone. After several attempts when you get through to them, he gives you a different number to call
When you connect to this second customer care number, they ask you to take a printout of the replacement voucher and the product, go to a bata store (wasting 1 litre of petrol). When you get to the store at raheja mall, sohna road there is no ac, and the guy refuses to accept the refund voucher. It takes 2 hours of haggling to get a (unwanted) item as a replacement for your hard earned money conned from you by bata. This is a filthy misuse of the web, and should be reported to the online frauds team of Delhi police.
