This isnt one of those reviews where Im gonna tell you the whole story, destroy every shred of suspense in the movie and we end up analysing whether Batmans portrayal was aesthetically superior to 17th century paintings of bats by unknown, long-dead painters. This is one of those reviews that will goad you to go and see the DAMN movie.
If, like me, youve grown up reading Batman comics and if your heart beats just a little faster when you hear that familiar, tana-nana-nana-nana - BAATMAAAAN!!! tune, this movie is for you.
Now to a bit of a spoiler...the story. In short.
Bruce Wayne (7-8 yrs old) [pretty much the first half]
Bruce Wayne (few years later)
Bruce Wayne (few more years later)
learns Ninjitsu
finally kicks some @$$ (action picks up)
comes back to Gotham city
kicks a lot more @$$ (action really heats up)
lots of damage all round but Gotham city is safe
The Beginning...
The previous movies were good but this movie really captures the whole mood of the Batman series. Its dark, sombre and always brooding. The background score is awesome and you actually feel the emotions raging through Bruce Wayne as the music changes tempo. In case youre wondering what Katie Holmes does, she just hangs around and looks pretty (quite pleasing on the eyes) and a chaste kiss just before she dumps Batman (oops! plot revealed). Which is how it should be (Who wants to see Batman happy, in a tie and suit, driving to work in a Maruti???).
