BATTLE OF THE COWLS FINALLY HITS THE BIG SCREEN

After 3 years of anticipation I was hell bent on watching the sequel of Man of Steel which introduced a more humane yet powerful version of Superman with a excellent origin story and well choreographed action sequences. So when the unexpected negative reviews surged in after the release, it did not have any effect on my decision to watch it onscreen.

This film has had controversies since its release of the title, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, of which I disprove too, because it feels a bit cheesy. Then came the controversy of casting of Batman, Lex Luthor and Wonder Woman. Surprisingly the cast(especially Ben Affleck as Batman and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman) display excellent performance with the exception of Henry Cavill who I felt looked stony and Jessie Eisenberg who portrayed a young and oddly erratic billionaire’s son in contrast to a calm and experienced self made billionaire.

The trailer also gave away much of the plot points away, even though the filmmakers said there was more to the film than the trailer which was very much not true.

Watching the film, you realize how much the plot is crammed into one single movie where it is very unevenly paced. The first half of the movie was a let down for me, as there was not much fight sequences I had hoped there would be. The second makes it up with packed action sequences of batman and superman and the more anticipated arrival of Wonder Woman . But the second half of the blockbuster also fails to deliver in terms of CGI effects of the villain Doomsday which looks between a cross between a ninja turtle and golem.

The film is overall interesting as it serves as a platform for the Justice League and other DC heroes to be introduced and also gives new incarnations of the two biggest superheroes we adored as a kid. The visuals are stunning and soundtrack superb. Also be prepared to see cameos of the other League members too.

After the watch, you feel both the critics and fans have a point. Yes, the film fails in certain aspects like plot and script, but it delivers the action and character development fans have been waiting for.

Overall, its a film worth watching at least once regardless of you being a comic fan or not.
