Batti Gul Meter Chalu is directed by Shrinaryan Singh who earlier made Toilet ek prem katha. But after seeing this movie batti gul meter chalu you cant say that it switched on the batti of your brain. The only thing that it has other than entertainment is mixed social awareness which comes in the movie in on and off style. Its like little entertainment and little message. In the story it shows the residents of tehri a place in Uttrakhand. Some childhood friends Sushil Kumar Panth ( Shahid Kapoor) , Lalita Nautiyal ( Shradha Kapoor) and Tripathi ( Divyendu Sharma) whose friendship bulb gets fused when Lailita decides in her own way that who is eligible or suitable to be her husband. Then suddenly an incident shakes both sushil and lalita. Sushil used to fight small public cases but after the incident he files a case against the local private electricity company and starts a war against them. In the court his opponent is a fluent English speaking advocate ( Yami Gautam) . Here are some important points being put forward which shows the real life truth about the problems in the small city. Here the writer and the director of the film tried to put some jokes or rather an entertainment environment in the court room so that it doesnt ends up being a serious conversation. This film would have raised his bars from the normal movies coming in the bollywood these days but after the introduction of entertainment in this scene they have reached back in the category of all the other normal movies. Trying to get out of the look from Padmavat shahid gets his beard trimmed and decorative hairstyle makes him look less realistic as per his role. Shradha Kapoor still looks like a metro girl. This first half of the movie is cold but in the other half because of the court room discussion it quite good. The director has used so much local language in each dialogue that after some time it doesnt looks real. Reasons to watch this movie? If you are a fan of Shahid and Shradha Kapoor.
