Ive been using Beam Cable for over 2 years now and had not really had a problem. The internet speed has been as promised and infact, even better. I started with the 160 plan and upgraded to the 256 plan as I was very satisfied with the network. Im currently constantly getting much higher speeds than what Im subscribed for!(Dont tell Beam guys this!:))
The network reliability has improved a lot from what it used to be 2 years back. These days, I have no reason to compain on the reliability front. In case of upcoming maintenence work, they send SMSs informing of possible downtime of the network. This is good as I know when the network would be going down and for how long.
Ratings
Connectivity Speeds: Excellent
Reliability: Very good(especially after the network upgrade work)
Cost: Value for money
Customer service: Needs improvement. Normally you need to dial multiple time before getting to talk to someone. The plus point is that I have not had a bad experience once I got to speak to the Customer Care executive.
Responsiveness to complains: Fairly good. I normally get a call back the same day of the complaint from a technician.
Important Note:
For all those who complain about the actual net speed vs promised speed(irrespective of the ISP, Beam, Sify, Indicom, BSNL, etc), please note the following.
Rate plan speed are in KBps(Kilobits per second)
Actual surfing speed are in kbps(Kilobytes per second)
1 kbps= 8 KBps
Hence, a rate plan of 160 KBps= actual surfing speeds of about 20 kbps
196 KBps= actual surfing speeds of about 24.5 kbps
256 KBps= actual surfing speeds of about 32 kbps
384 KBps= actual surfing speeds of about 48 kbps
and so on.
So please, before complaining about not getting the promised speeds, calculate the actual surfing speed you have signed up for.
