I had taken a connection on 2nd May 2014. The same day I made a cheque payment of Rs. 1672 for installation charges. After one month I see the same amount added to my account along with my monthly charge. When I checked with the customer care, they informed me that the cheque has bounced. I checked with the bank and also saw my bank statement and found the amount is paid to Beam Telecom and the cheque is not dishonored. When I checked my payment history in my BeamTele account I also found the payment receipt generated. Now Beam Tele is asking for my account statement which has my private and confidential information.
Please think twice, your bank statement is a very sensitive data and can be highly misused as it portrays your pattern of expenditure, your payment of EMIs if you have any loan, your shopping trends if you use debit card to purchase products, your expenses from the frequency of cash withdrawals. Even their customer care executive told me to send my account statement to her and she would in turn forward to the concerned department. When I told her to loop me with her supervisor she tried to escape by saying that she does not know her email id. When I told her that this is a sensitive data and you do not have the authority to see it, she disconnected the phone.
