This movie is a good one for avid movie-goers. Lets get straight to the story:
Elliot Richards (Brendon Fraser), is an emotional and nice-hearted guy who is often referred to as a jerk by his workmates. This world is not for the simpletons. Coz of this, hes not too popular. He loves this one girl, Allison, whom hes seen many a time. But considering that nobody likes to become his friend, who would become his girlfriend?
His whole life changes when he meets glamorous devil (Liz Hurley) who gives her seven wishes for his mere soul. The movie portrays about how man commits the 7 deadly sins. the devil finally convinces him that his soul is of no use to him. All his wishes change his personality to make people get attracted to him. Now the story starts to get really funny. Some of his wishes include becoming rich, smart, the President Of America, an emotional person and a basketball player.
In all these wishes, he gets tricked by the devil and none really serve his purpose. When he gets sick of all this goof-up, he tells the devil that he will not wish again, even though 2 wishes were left. But she cheats him saying that the McDonalds burger that he ordered from her as proof of her being a devil was one wish. This annoys him and he doesnt wish again. In the ending, he has to wish after being threatened by the devil. This time he wishes really from his heart for Allisons long life. The contract gets void as he overcomes the 7 deadly sins, and does not have to give his soul. Only to find out that Allison was dating someone already.
But he finds a look-alike of Allison and finally, they live happily ever after.............
The story is OK and the comedy is just enough, although some jokes are a bit sickening. Brendon Fraser sounded a bit awkward in some roles, but was just right in the others. Liz Hurley makes a good comeback and really displays a real vicious look. It is a good time-pass movie.
