Be...dazzled

The movie Bedazzled is a nice comedy. The fact that it is very similar to the novel Dr.Faustus makes it more interesting. The story line goes like this…

Elliot is a friendly but innocent guy who is taken for granted by people around him. He falls in love with a girl called Alison who doesn’t give him as much as a second glance and Elliot feels hurt. The devil in the form of a dazzling beauty offers to help. After a lot of hesitation and doubts on his side and a dose of temptation from the devils side he signs a contract with the devil selling his soul for seven wishes in return .

The comedy is in how all his wishes turn out literally to his dismay and he lands up in trouble. He wishes to be rich and turns into a drug lord. When he wishes to be an athlete Alison is too small for him. He turns out to be too brainy when his wish to be intelligent is granted and he just can’t keep his mouth shut. In one of his ventures at being a sensitive guy Elliot becomes too sensitive for words and this is how it goes on in everyone of his adventures. All this he does to attain Alison’s love instead it only drives her away from him.

At the end of the story when things get too much for him he repents falling for the temptation and decides to redo the contract in vain. The devil gets mad at him for not keeping his word and sends or rather throws him into hell when he refuses to avail his last wish. What happens next is the twist in the tale. You probably can guess the rest but I will do justice by not revealing it and letting out the suspense.

Its amazing how Brendan manages to look different in each one of his roles and acts it out real good. The devil looks stunning believe me! I know why Elliot fell for her sweet talk. Alison looks pretty but has nothing much to do in the movie.

I got to watch the movie on Star movies last Sunday. So watch out for it and watch it when you have time to kill and nothing else to do. Atleast that is what I did.

Starring:Brendan Fraser as Elliot, Elizabeth Hurley as the devil, Frances Connor as Alison.

Ps:Don’t curse me for giving a review on an outdated film. I am no good at watching them and have been spanked by my friends for sleeping at the theater. So be nice and spare me pls!

Here are a few favourite quotes which I missed but my benevolent friend David passed on to me.
