I had got to watch this movie as the plot and picturization seemed so different in all the trailers. Vidya Balan always comes out with something new, something never done before without any fear everything and Begum Jaan just exactly justifies all that in one movie. This is a period movie of around the time of independence of India and Pakistan and its partition, that falls on hard at a certain community that happens to live on the border of the two nations. The plot of the movie centers around Vidyas character who was widowed in her childhood and now runs a brothel located right on the border during partition. Vidya seems to be completely invested into her role as always and so does the rest of the cast members. The music and cinematography is fine but the storyline and casts performance succeeds to hold the public and engage them into the pain the sex-workers go through in the movie. I found it to be a great movie and would recommend everyone to watch it at least once.
