Begam Jaan, as the character says many things - feminist, fearless and fiesty, a convincing and consisting script built up nicely protrayting the life in brothel handled by Begam Jaan(Vidhya Balan). Begam Jaan rules over the brothel with firm, but loving hand.
Trouble starts when she receives and eviction notice as the brothel falls slam in the middle of the line drawn to divide India in wake of Independence in 1947. She adviceed to leave the brothel. She refuce to give up her home despite being threatened off. When the king declares himself helpless, she decides to take the force on her own.
Begam Jaan ha smany heart rending scenes and many emotiona highs but slows dwn the pace of the film. Vidhya Balan is all fire and brinstone and done all justice to this movie.
One time watch but must watch movie.
