Beijing 2008 Olympic Games are finally declared Open. I had watched the Olympic Opening Ceremony on cable and almost all the news channels telecast it live. It was a wonderful experience.(No Words).
I did plan ahead to watch them, but I was stuck in traffic because of the rains. Of course I managed to reach the nearest Television and sat glued to television and went home and watching replay till late night.
I was kind of apprehensive, since its the first time that China is hosting an event of this kind and all the unfortunate problems like earth quake, floods, bombs that have been preceding these games. So I was wishing that everything would go great, and everything did indeed was just amazingly beautiful and full with an energetic and peaceful, displaying the spirit of Chinese.
I enjoyed the way the Chinese people, educated us showing us what they are proud of, showing us a little bit of the many things that they have invented in the past, like paper, papyri, Indian ink, the gunpowder, the ability to print, the kite, their exquisite music and the breathtaking way to express their culture through their writing and drawing on papyri. Amazing artistic work. Spectacular is not the Word. I need a Thesaurus.
Athletes from a total of 205 countries were send to these Olympic Games that promise to be spectacular. Africa, United Kingdom, Australia, Japan, France, Russia, China, United States, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Canada, Latin America. Ohh of course India too. With Rajavardhan Rathore being the Flag carrier. Hope He gets us a Gold.Pray.Mrs. Gandhi was there to cheer around.
But how can I Just finish writing this Dairy Post and not mention about the fantastic way in which the Olympic flame was lit on the gigantic Olympic Flame Cauldron. Never was it so .(forget me telling U Watch It) It lit by Li Ning, former Chinese Olympic gymnast, who won the first Gold Medal for China.
We have to truly thank the Chinese people and all the hundreds of thousands of athletes, technicians, engineers, architects, secretaries, executives, all hard working labor people, electricians, artists, performers and volunteers from all over the world who participated in this electrifying event to make it what it was . No words are enough. Spirit of China. There truly amazed me. I now know what a country with Human resources can Do. When Will India do?
The opening ceremony was a mixture of religious ritual with a demonstration of Chinese national culture which is supposed to restore China to its historic role as a leading world civilizations .
The Chinese were determined to stun the world and organizers of the games have imposed a blackout on the rehearsals. They got signed contracts from participants not describe the contents to anyone. Employees are deemed to have been threatened with imprisonment up to seven years if they breach of confidentiality. Wow All that was worth every second.
I don;t think LA/Sydney/Athens was able to match them. Nor will Britain be able to match It in 2012.
