Bent, Spent, and Went Long Long back..

Bend it like Beckham...

I guess I didnt do the review as well as the film is doing..

So let me do it again....

The film is all about two girls who love playing soccer. One of them is an Indian and the other European and its a story of their friendship, their love for the game and their coach. Its centered around this Indian girl who has to concentrate on her studies, her cooking, her sisters wedding, her relatives, her own future and combat all this to do what she likes best... play soccer.

why is it a nice movie..? because it conveys more than what you expect.. a girl playing football is just a metaphor.. as you seem to think of the endless restrictions on girls of Indian origin especially in India.. its also a nice movie coz it has keira Knightley... as for girls there is a Jonathan Myers..

its a nice movie coz it captures some rarely or never seen moments... the ’’I really like beckham’’ scene... where the girl’s friend confesses candidly that he is gay..

its a nice movie coz it dares honestly to be different... and to entertain at the same time too... the friendship between two girls is shown so beautifully and both of them fancying the same guy.. its the same story .. but it evokes emotions.. coz its treated nicely.. and shown in a simple straightforward perspective.. their drifting apart .. the confusion.. the girl’s dilemma.. and most importantly.. clarity in dialogue.. especially at the end

’’letting me go is a big step for my parents.. ’’ and another sequence when the girl is trying to convince the guy to wait till she returns for christmas..

awesome... simply very neat.. and to go with all this... the soundtrack is damn good.. and its usage at appropriate times... catch the Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan track ’’Tere bin’’.. one of the best songs you can get to hear in films..

what was not required were some lewd scenes at the shaadi.. anyways.. I guess even the football part was also not pictured with enough zest.. but Iam not complaining.. keira knightley is bewitching come what may..

and the movie IS worth a dekho..

Its just been released in the United States.. though its been more than a year since its original International release. Most definitely recommended and one of the most enjoyable movies this season. You can avoid crap like Matrix reloaded which is all hype and no substance and get a look at this all substance no hype film..

Truly truly enjoyable.
