Im a delhite by birth and by nature(foody to the core). We are a regular visitor to the Bengali market eateries , especially the sweet shop.We have very fond memories of having ladoos, kaju Katli here.
Keeping in with tradition of everytime having a quick bite at Bengali Market whenever we pass that area, me and my wife visited Bengali Sweets in the morning. The weather was chilly so it was perfect setting to enjoy a hot smoking Cholle-Bathura for myself and straight from the hallwais kadai samosas for my better half.
We were pretty excited to relive our nostalgia. At first, the service was pretty ordinary, most of the staff was busy packing more than 100 lunch boxes. But I dont know how it made us less-important even to be asked/served the menu.It was 10.45am in the morning , so it was more of a brunch than a breakfast and we were expecting that we will be served with many choices like South Indian, North Indian type of breakfast. It was not meant to be.
Then we placed the order and we received our order of Cholle Bathura and samosa in next 15minutes of placing the order. Then the bathuras was over-oily and heavy (first time I had it in this form). Most important part of a Cholla-Bathura is the Cholla , this cholla was again too oily, you could actually see the oil and cholla seperate on the dish.Worst was that , they served it on a paper plate. All in all worst experience.I would not recommend it to anybody.
