It is equipped with a 5, 998cubic centimetres(366.0cuin)(6.0litre)twin-turbochargedW12 engine, which produces aDIN-ratedmotivepoweroutput of 560metric horsepower(412kW; 552bhp) at 6, 100rpm, andtorqueof 650newton metres(479ft·lbf) at 1, 600-6, 100rpm.[1]Torsen-based permanentfour-wheel driveis standard.[1]It will accelerate from 0 to 100kilometres per hour(0 to 62.1mph) in 4.8seconds, and go on to reach a top speed of 318kilometres per hour(197.6mph).
On 1 August 2007, Bentley released details of a more powerful GT. Power is increased to 611metric horsepower(449kW; 603bhp), with a top speed of 325kilometres per hour(201.9mph) and a 0-60mph time of 3.9 seconds. The GT Speed can accelerate to 200km/h(124mph) from 0 in 13.8. The Continentals weight is also reduced by 35kg(77lb). Minor exterior changes include a tinted front grille and larger exhaust tailpipes. The price for this model is £137, 000. The Continental GT Speed is the first production Bentley officially capable of reaching 326km/h(202.6mph), despite the fact the car weighs over 2, 400kilograms(5, 291lb).
