150cc bikes

The 150cc segment has a lot of competition. Bike manufacturers target this segment because if the huge customer requirement. There are a lot of bikes in this segment. We will have a look at few:

Bajaj Pulsar

Pulsar has ruled the 150cc segment for a long time. I would say that this bike is the best combination of mileage, acceleration and speed. It’s engine produces 14bhp of power. Riding in the city gives mileage of about 50-55km, which is really good. Bike has an aggressive look which is liked by many. Pulsar also scores well in comfort. It has nitrox suspensions which prevents jerking of the bike at bumps. In all, I would say it’s a complete bike.

Honda Unicorn

Unicorn is one bike which has provided stiff competition to Pulsar. Unlike pulsar, its engine is very smooth and makes negligible sound. The bike is best suited for people who prefer to cruise rather than drag their bikes. Its engine produces 13bhp of power. It provides mileage of about 45-50km. This bike has been called a maintenance free bike due to superior quality of Honda. It is the first choice for middle aged riders.

Yamaha FZ/FZ-S

Both these bikes are same. The only difference is some cosmetic changes. Like pulsar, it provides high acceleration but has low mileage of about 40-45km. The bike is very stable, thanks to the wide rear tire, which makes it really easy to sweep through narrow lanes and traffic. This bike has the best look in the 150cc segment. The engine produces 14Bhp power. Overall it’s a good bike, recommended for people who want good looks

Yamaha R-15

This is more of a sports bike rather than commuter bike. It has a selected section of buyers mainly youngsters. It’s the most powerful bike in the 150cc segment with 17Bhp power. It has a very high rear seat, which makes the seating position very uncomfortable. People who want to bike this bike, should be careful about maintaining it. If the bike falls, there are no guards to minimize the damage you will have to spend a lot of money. The fairing is really expensive. Only recommended for people who want a sports bike.
