India's First Zombie Web-series

I recently watched the new fictional Indian horror web-series Betaal from Netflix. It’s great to see that Indian web-series is trying something new in the horror genre.

I can say it is the first Indian Zombie web-series. They have put a lot of effort into the details, given the Hollywood level execution with its VFX effect, sounds, makeup, direction, etc. They also added an Indian touch, with the zombies unable to walk past a combination of turmeric, salt, and ash.

It also portrayed political realities, the unquestioning blind loyalty of the soldiers, and corrupt industrialists hungry for more money.

The story is about the curse Mount Betaal wherein the name of development, all the original inhabitants are killed to make a highway. All the people are labeled as Naxal so officer Sirohi and his team are summoned to remove them and clear the tunnel. When they open the entrance of the tunnel, they encounter with this undead East Indian Army regiment.

Sirohi and his team took shelter to a nearby British barracks for safety. The regime also followed them who can fire, infect, and play drums. As the story progresses, you will see much more interesting stuff.

I advocate you to watch it as Indian web-series writers and directors are experimenting with new ideas. It would be wrong to compare this web-series with Hollywood ones.

Give it a shot
