Last weekend(24.11.2013) we visited Koeladeo bird sanctuary, Bharatpur, Rajasthan. We went by train from New Delhi and stayed at Hotel Ashok(Forest Lodge) which is located in sanctuary and 1.8 km from main gate. Its worth visiting there.
We reached there in morning 09:00 AM and took breakfast at hotel. The hotel is simple and atmosphere there is calm but does not deserve the price of one day stay Rs.4200, since its a very basic hotel. However location is excellent.
We took ride of cycle rickshaw for watching the birds. The rickshaw puller is guide himself and charged Rs.100 per hour and binocular Rs.50 per hour. at the end visited the Shiva Temple there and cold drink at canteen in sanctuary.
The various migratory birds were present like snake bird, kingfisher, strokes etc. At about 02:00 PM has a lunch at hotel and then went for a boat ride in sanctuary at 03:30 PM which charges Rs.150 fro one hour trip. We enjoyed the boating since it was very calm and quite. It seems we come to a different world of birds.
At night had a dinner at 07:00 PM and went for a sleep at 08:00 PM. Next morning got up early and again went for birds watching. Return was by train which started from Bharatpur at 01:10 PM and came to Delhi. The whole trip was joyful and we felt relaxed too. The visiting season is from mid of October to mid of March when birds come.
