Long weekends for Bangaloreans means leaving the city. Plus there are plenty of places in Karnataka and other nearby states that one can go to. Have already ticked off most of the places for weekend getaway except a few, one of them being Bheemeshwari. So yesterday went to this place as well to know what all the fuss is about. This is more like a picnic spot or people who are into fishing or even trekking.
The distance between Bangalore and Bheemeshwari is 100 km, which by road takes two and a half hours. There are several jungle lodges but make sure to have a confirmed reservation and call them before you go, just to be sure. Also, the range of activities that you can get do is quite wide. Fishing in cauvery river, trekking, elephant walk and plenty other things. We went yesterday so the water level was low. People around said that one could kayaking and river rafting if the water level is good.
One con that I believe is worth mentioning is the water was dirty. Im sure it is mostly because of tourists, but it is sad to see garbage in such a quaint place.
For a day trip I would highly recommend this place, lots of activities to engage in at the same time beautiful sights around to relax your ind and heart.
