Hesitatingly I ventured to try this’french remake’ movie.despite the general feel the name gives you’that it would actually fry your Bheja’! The huge advantage the movie has is the low expectation it generates when you walk into watch it. As you slowly realise that the joke is on some else you slowly start settling down and let the theme unfold.
The story revolves around a Rich Businessman Thadani [Rajat Kapoor] who is a producer of Music Albums.His wife Sheetal, married to him for the last 2 years, is also a playback singer.She was earlier married to a Music Director Anand [Milind Soman] . Thadani is a mean, selfish guy and also successfull. He has a group of friends who meet up for dinner every Friday and they take turns to bring an Idiot along who will entertain them that evennig without him ever knowing that he is an idiot who’s been called in only for some entertainment’ as Thadani puts it .
This week it’s Thadani’s turn to get an Idiot along to the party and he has’nt been able to locate any. One of his friends [who is’nt part of this Friday party group] recommends a guy whome he met during a Bus journey.Thadani is willing to try him and that’s where Mr.Bharat Bushan [Vinay Pathak]
enters.He works for the Tax Dept. and he is ooh boy is he talented! He considers himself as one of the best singers of India. From then on this guy tickles your Funny Bone.He carries the movie on his shoulders. It turns out to be one hell of a night for Mr.Thadani when Sheetal walks out on him and he is forced to even be freinds with Anant.
Overall a short story & a very good performance by all the cast [except Ranvir Shorey who fails to impress you-actually it’s his role which is screwed up] makes the movie a must watch if you are Ok with a 2 hour laugh and time pass venture. When you get out you realise you dont actually care if it’s a french remake or not as it leaves it’s taste as only an Indian. Dont miss this, the best Sunday afternoon option!
