Bhimashankar, as name suggests, is the religious place having Lord Shivas temple & Pandaavs stayed over there during their vanvas. ...
From Mumbai, the nearest station, u can go from is Karjat ... from Karjat station as well, we need to travel abt 10 kms to come to the base from where one needs to start trekking ... there r 6 seaters available from karjat to go to the base ....
The best time to trek is the rainy season ... just go for it & I can assure that u will love the greenery & envoirnment .... Its so good that u will not feel fatigued even if u trek for 8 hrs ... yeah, the trek is very long & it took us 8 hrs ... We started at around 8.00 am & one has to actually cross 3 mountains to reach the final destination ...
For Bhimashankar, 1 sld plan for 2 days trek .... u sld stay overnight & there is a MTDC resort for ur stay ... can do the booking at their office near Mantralaya, Mumbai ... Overnight stay will assure you the enjoyment of food in the chilly climate ... after sunset, its just the fog that u can see ... if u walk on a road, u cant see the person walking next to u & also a vehicle that is coming from front ...
this trek is really a very enriching experience ... do not try short-cuts while trekking Bhimashankar bcoz first of all it is rainy season & there r solid chances of slippages & also, its not a plain vanilla trek ... especially, amaetuers be careful ..... we had couple of incidents that happened during the trek .... I think Lord Shiva saved that person who tried short-cut by sending the professional trekkers to rescue him ...
Once u reach the top, there is a plain tabletop where u can njoy cool breeze & u can njoy it by clicking the snaps since u get a very panaromic view ... then u come across the Shiva temple ... u can take blessings of god & move on to rejuvenate yourself in a very chilly waterfall .... u need to climb down ahead of Shiva temple ... The pressure of chilled waterfall will take you out of the tiredness that u might have had during the whole day while climbimg up 3 hills .....
