Surprise Value

Honestly, I was not expecting anything worth watching as Priyadarshan has been a big let down. Except for Heraferi, he has not come up with anything worth discussing. I also believe that Heraferi was become kind of cult simply because of Paresh Rawal. Remove Paresh, and the movie would sink without a trace.

Firse Heraferi was also ridicules. I mean in almost all the movies, remake of South Indian hits, suffered from language barriers and pathetic comedy.I would personally also do not rate him Priyadarshan good director either, as in Bollywood, if by fluke, u give one hit, u r considered to be a good director. If u give two hits in a raw then u r genius from Bollywood point of view.

With this background, I just chanced upon in the theater, It started with normal gags, kind of pit class...but surprisingly in the second half movie grips u.Vidya Balan was unexpectedly brilliant in not-so-traditional role. It manages to surprise u...even give u a chill or scare here and there.

For the first time, the details have been painstakingly worked out and almost all the tricky answers have been provided. Nothing is left to imagination. The ambiance is superb and so is the motive and narrative structure, particularly in the second half....

I loved the movie...simply because of its surprise value....as movie lingers on your mind well after u left the theater, It may be another fluke....but a watchable fluke*

And yes, the best part of the movie was, they have added a psychological dimension to seemingly supernatural saga....something that rarely happens in Bollywood.
