Not great, but must-see!

Bhoot is a typical horror movie. It has all the standard editing, sound effects, pointless scary characters, flaws in logic. But you should watch it. Why?

Because this is the first time that we have a b-grade horror flick in Hindi, and so far all we have had were c-grades! Every shot, every sound effect is stuff you have seen before in English films before. In fact, it has a plotline that has probably been copied a 100 times over over the last 20 years in Hollywood.

We should see it because Ramu has brought the horror genre out of a rut. It has great acting by the two leading protagonists. It has editing and sound you haven’t seen before in Bollywood.

See it to celebrate the liberation of the genre in Hindi. See it if you are not too used to horror flicks. See it to get scared, if you get scared easily, especially if you live in a flat.

The common complaint seems to be - 1) false scares - This is normal in horror movies. 2) Plot and story - very normal. Horror movies are not known for plotlines, but for visual impact and style. 3) Too many spooky characters - typical of horror movies, though don’t ask me why it’s so. This is Blair Witch + Evil Dead + Amityville Horror + a 100 others plus Ramu. I am sure the director is smirking inside, as Ramu is too smart to know this is not a great work. Thank him still, for giving us something new.
