Bhooooooot hai Bhooooooot

I had been hearing very good things about this movie Bhoot for quite a few months. The trailers looked pretty hot too. But when I finally watched it, I couldn’t help but feel disappointed. And that was because it was actually funny at some places. Perhaps, I had been expecting too much from it.

The movie starts with Vishal (Ajay Devgan) and his wife Swati (Urmila Matondkar) moving into their new home which is on the top floor of a building. Their home however is haunted. The previous tenant had died falling off the balcony. The ghost of this tenant getting into Swati’s body makes up the story. Swati starts acting like she is possessed. Does she suffer from multiple personality disorder is it is a BHOOT? It is the maid (Seema Biswas) who first suggests to Vishal that a ghost has taken refuge within her. Then a murder is committed and enter Inspector Qureshi (Nana Patekar) who is convinced that Swati is the guilty party. Little does he know that it is actually the ghost in Swati’s body which makes her do the things she does.

Can Swati releive herself of the ghost? Or is the ghost going to destroy her? Is it the previous tenant’s ghost which is in her? And if so, what exactly is the past of the previous tenant?

The two hour movie does have its intense moments but I did not find it scary anywhere. In fact I thought it was funny in some places. However, this could just be because I did not see it on the big screen. I recommend this movie to be seen in the cinema hall rather than at home for the effect.

Ajay Devgan has given a decent performance and so has Urmila (watch out for the mop on her head which is supposed to be her hair). The movie is certainly watchable but its not anything great.
