Big B is a malayalam film.But if you watch this movie without the soundtrack, you will misunderstand this is a foreign movie which incorporated high breed technologies.Film is an inspiration from the Hollywood flick "4 brothers".
Amal neerad who is a gold medalist cinematographer from Satyajit Ray film institute, Calcutta has directed this movie.The movie has shot in super 16 format.Super 16 format cameras are very rare in use[in south indian film industry].This is a camera in which you can produce high quality picture tone. it is light weighted than an ordinary Arri 35 or 435.One of amal neerad’s disciple, Sameer thahir is the cinematographer of the film.He has done a very brilliant work.
The plot is simple and well handled.A mother Theresa kind of woman dies in Cochin.It proved that it is a murder.She raised many orphans in her house.They are her family.Her death is a call for that family.they come from many part of the world and unite again for one cause, to find, kill the murderer of their ’Mumma’ and ruin his empire, even though they have no clue about the killer and his reasons behind the action.
manoj k jayan acts as one boy mumma has brought up.He is running a restaurant in Cochin for a living.One more boy[featured by Tamil actor Bala works in film industry as a ’stunt choreographer’.One boy stills in college who got terribly affected by Mumma’s death.And there is one more guy.The guy of actions, The guy of bullets, The guy of fire...their Big brother....’B’....’B’ stands for Bilaal... Mammooty features as Bilaal.
The director amal neerad has showed his guts.The scene in which vijaya raghavan comes as a police officer and warns the people behind the murder , sets the tone of the movie.Except this scene, in the first 30 mins, film only concentrate in mumma’s burial.It is explained in such a manner that she is a prime minister of the most powerful country in the world.It symbolizes her greatness and the power of her kids who is going to be back for the actions.
Hard blackish blue rain sizzles the screen for this half an hour.Amal neerad put that scene too long that you want to run back to your home and you already made your decision that this is one serious bore.And from the next scene you will be surprised to watch what happens on the screen [ at edge of the seat]..that’s what direction is all about...The director puts you in a very long sequence and make you feel bore and suddenly he fight back with every arrow in his pack to make you thrilled and you get damn-thrilled!!!!!!!!!
Unni R [short story writer] is the dialogue writer for the screenplay which amal neerad did himself. Dialogues are real peppy ones much influenced by Quentin tarantino.

Bilaal and his brother in the search of a goonda gang...The goonda gang plays basket ball..when they see bilaal, they are beginning to be violent.suddenly they stops as they are afraid of something.Audience is not clear about what happened....then camera goes down..bilaal aims an electronic machine gun down the gang leader’s d spot. Bilaal says ’ I was in the scene [cult word for the underworld] when you were in the que of ’Aadhi paapam’ [ A famous soft porn movie] at Ajantha theatre."

and after a lot of machine gun fights and wars...they are finding the criminal....saayippu tony...that’s the name of this villain...how Mumma’s kids , the 4 brothers got him and his gang under the grave yard is the climax.........
Action scenes are executed incredibly well...The fight with the Japanese shooters are remarkable..Best scene is the one in which mammooty make that car of villains blast.....the parts of the car flies to his face....[it was really an accident]...mammooty flicks his face and that piece comes to dash on the screen....
Big B is a financial failure in Kerala box Office...and well, that’s nowadays malayali audience.....
P.S : Amal neerad next movie which bored me to death became a super hit by releasing the film to the most number of screen from its opening.
