Endemol and Channel 4 must be regretting the decision to have spicy Shilpa Shetty participate in the show to spice things up. Our southern-spice (SS) turned out super-HOT to the British taste of bland and blondes. No doubt the viewership has soared up, but they have also lost their prime sponsorship. There’s talk of C4 dropping the show. Dude hopes BBs (Big whatevers) will continue to air over YouTube instead where it can run uncensored like the Gandhi-pole-dance clip.
*BB History
BB happened to be mostly a show about ’Brainless Booty’, until Shilpa was roped in to be a house guest. She was reportedly paid anywhere from 3 to 6 crores to participate in the show. That must be something to resist for a Bollywood has been. So our innocent Gandhian Shetty decides to be India’s cultural ambassador in a pit full of trailer trash!
BB is primarily about showing Bs and Bullying. What did Shilpa expect from the participants in such a show? Milk of humankindness?**Bigoted Sisters? British girls are known to be ugly, stupid and brainless. So no surprises they felt intimidated by having the suave, voluptuous and exotically-desirable Shilpa, in their midst. To add salt to the injury, a gay celebrity began dating her. That must be the last straw for the frustrated Jade Goody and Gang.
Insulted heaped upon Shilpa were mostly stupid and undeserving of any media mention, where it not for the politically-charged times we live in. Politician and political commentators of every hue jumped into the fray turning and bending the issue to their own ends using it to criticize their opponents be it Tony Blair, Manmohan Singh, Narendra Modi or the Shahi Imam of Delhi! With so much brouhaha, what better way to increase the cirulation/viewership. Overnight the British tabloids which used to Cheerlead Jade’s every move, became the torchbearers of the Multicultural and tolerant Britain.
Racist Invectives?
Pig or dog is common cuss-word thrown around in heated arguments. Infact Jade herself was called a ’Pig’ in an earlier season of non-Celebrity BB. The moment an Indian was involved it suddenly reached astronomical proportions.
Dude doesn’t understand why ’Dog’ is a cussword. Dogs are such cute, cuddly and loyal creatures. If I were a dog, I would be offended if my species name was used as an insult to a paid masochist (she could have always walked away in a dignified way protesting the treatment).
Ditto for ’Paki’. It should actually be Musharaff and his countrymen who should oppose the usage of their nationality as a bad word. It is they who should feel happy (or annoyed) at Shetty being called one of them. Why should Indians care? It was definitely ignorant geography. But racist?

About, Indians being thin due to eating undercooked food; these Brit ladies need a serious subcontinental culinary education!! On the other, since a well-endowed SS has been called thin, a wicked curiosity arises in Dude’s mind about Overabundance of British booty.
Given such ignorace of Indian cooking, and given the inability of some contestants to remember Shilpa’s two syllable name, isn’t it surprising that Jade called her ’Poppadum’ (an exquisite dish)? It’s the same lady who thinks Rio De Janeiro to be a person!! Doesn’t that show the insult was stage-managed? [ why should someone taken offence at it? Poppadums are so tasty - yum]
Westerners are very concious about someoneelse touching their food. That’s why you see the guys flipping burgers at McDonalds wearing gloves. SS should have kept these sensitivities in mind. It’s their prerogative to not eat spicy food if they don’t like it. Dude hates ’Sushi’ as it’s completely bland. Does that make him Anti-Japanese?
We need to give consideration to Jade’s slum background regarding her ’Go back to Slum’ remarks. The ’go to where you came from’ stems from insecurity of losing to a better girl.
*Brown man’s Burden
Having taken a cue, other Reality shows have also started attempting at ’Racism viewership’ pie, like Buchanan of Shipwrecked wishing a return of slavery and other insults at the Blacks. Surprisingly Ofcom which got 40, 000 complaints about Shilpa episode, didn’t get even a 1000 complaints against such apparent ’Racism’!
Why is it only the subcontinentals and Muslims who always create such an outcry about ’Discrimination’ at the slightest opportunity? Isn’t it our own INFERIORITY COMPLEX speaking? When will we Indians get over the romanticism of the Raj, and Muslims over the days of the Caliphs and Sultans? [ If someones both it’s a double whopper]
With the Indians it’s the baggage of Colonialism and the Romanticism of Raj by the elite. Having abandoned the roots in favor of a foreign culture, language, values, Religion etc. etc., Indians expect to be treated on par as part of the White-Western-World. When such an acceptance doesn’t come from the West (who see us as pathetic copycats), our dreams get shattered and we complain loud like spoilt brats.
WHY do we need the APPROVAL OF THE WEST? When shall we learn to ignore the stupid people or answer them in kind [ fk off honky bd] and move on with life [ like the Africans]. Look at them - they have turned Nigga and Dawg [ insults] into cool hip-hop words.
