Hi friends!
I first visited The Big Chill restaurant around 5 years back whilst I was still in college. Since then, its been a regular hangout for me - I think I eat more there than I do at my own place!!
TBC has two outlets - East Of Kailash and Khan Market. Personally, I dont think theres much variance between the two, though the latter branch has food which tastes a tad better.
All in all - I think its a fabulous place to dine out at a great price. I havent gone much beyond the Pizzas and Pastas in all these years as Im dont have much of a sweet tooth. However I do recommend the Columbian Mocha Shake (do mention Super Thick!!) - its great.
The baked potatoes are average, though others have rated them highly in the past. Try the one with cheddar cheese. Do not try the ones with meat in them..
Among the main course - the best Pizzas would surely be the Chickonara and the Four Fourths. They have a non commercial, homely feel about them. The cheese used in the Pizzas is good and consistent in quality. The chickonara is a chicken lovers BONANZA. A must try....
The pastas are great 99% of thr time, although Ive had a sneaky suspicion that Ive been served with stale pasta on more than one occasion in the past! The meatball pasta and spaghetti bolognaise are the best. The lasagne bolognaise is terrific and the ragu filling that they use in it is arguably the best Ive tasted in Delhi...Avoid the pastas with white sauce.
Among the salads, I recommend the Chicken and rice salad, which has a veritable smattering of olives and jalapanos and has nice tangy taste about it!!! Steer clear of the hot dog - it was way below par and full of onions. Blech
The grilled fish preparations are good - the one with Piri Piri sauce stands out as the best by far...........
I do not recommend the risottos but the bakes are really good! Try the dish with baked pepperoni and gouda cheese. Warning - carry a gas mask. Its delicious but it raises a stink!!
If you are going to the East Of Kailash branch, you must try the Red Pesto Canneloni with Chicken. Its one of the best Italian dishes Ive ever had! (and Ive had a few, mind you!). Its tangy, hot, cheesy and yummilicious!
Their espresso coffee is definitely good, and has a solid, full bodied flavour and medium acidity. Best enjoyed without sugar!!! As an accompaniment to the pastas or pizzas, try their signature style of Ginger Fizz, which is excellent.
If you want to grab a sweet dish after a meal, try the Chocolate Truffle Cake or the Chocolate Decadence cake. The apple pie was unsatisfactory in my opinion. Their ice creams have a lovely, smooth feel about them. My favourite - Midnite Mint!! Really unique taste...
Overall - the best food in Delhi for an average price of 350 bucks per head!
See you there!!!
