Our IMAX Theater is attached to our Provincial Museum, in
Vitoria, British Columbia, Canada.
It has its own entrance and seats are comfortable. The Theater seats about 100 people.
The films are never more than an hour long. We love to
visit the shows as an IMAX experience makes you are part
of the film. To explain let me tell you about the last film
we saw.
EVEREST:
I read Jon Krakauers report of his participation in the climb of Everest in the news paper in South Korea.
The IMAX Photographer was David Breashears and it was narrated by Liam Neeson. It is a short film that is just a little less than an hour long.
Ed Viesturs is the Leader of the Group. The other climbers were a Woman from Spain, (she was the first to summit), the Son of the Sherpa Climber, (who first climbed the peak with Sir Edmund Hillary who was the first Person to reach the Summit), the IMAX Film Crew. His Wife was the Base Camp Manager.
The Movie begins at the base of Mount Everest which is in the Himilaya Mountains of Tibet. We see the Team training and follow them on their Trek.
There is beautiful and breathtaking scenery, the majesty and power of the Mountain and footage of terrible Storms.
When you see the Film you feel like you are climbing the icy slopes and feel that you are walking through the dangerous passages over the ice falls.
SOME TRIVIA:
It took place at the same time as Rob Halls group. Rob and six others lost their lives on the Mountain. The IMAX Crew rescued rescue Beck Weathers, (from Halls Group).
MY FINAL THOUGHTS:
I wish I had the nerve to climb Mount Everest. I know I will never do it because I have only climbed a few Moutains in Waterton Lakes and Banff Provincial Parks in Alberta, Canada.
It is a wonderful Film and if you can see it I hope you take the opportunity to so.
The Sony Company owns IMAX Theaters.
Please note I did not fill in the slot for who I recommend
this for because there was no choice for every one.
