4 problems - Any buyers?

Another Update:

Hi,

I’m first buyer of BIG TV in Kothrud / Pune area. Bought it on day 1 of launch and first from WebWorld in kothrud.

I thought, as tested in more than 2000 town this service should not face any problem, but believe me. day one and I had 1st problem

Problem 1: Not getting all channels.

After numerous calls to customer care with no resolution, I found the solution by some experiments. You may read it here. parag-mylife.blogspot.com

Problem 2: Opt for some package

While buying, as I was in hurry, I took up some popular 12 months package later to realize that it wont give me much on TV and I need some more channels.

The package wqas not applied to my connection and Technically I should be able to opt for a lower package, 3 months premium, till then. But arrogant customer care guy started quarreling like a street side vendor and asked me to talk to the one who sold me connection. Wow! "Raste Ka Maal Saste Me".

Problem 3: Slow channel switching

Now the new problem is Very Slow Channel Changing thing. Believe me it as slow as . a cow sleeping on road.(I could not find any better example.)

Problem 4: Blackout that too Frequent

you are in the middle of action in some movie. and blackout or better a magical Blue Screen! "Wow! What you need better to enjoy that precious evening at home."

So guys think before doing that BIG thing!

Important Update:

The worst call centre experience I had till date is with BigTV. The executive, Satyajit, literally smashing me over some debate about channel packaging and about activation of smart card.

I contacted customer care a couple of times over this week and complained about unavailability of certain channels as per my subscription(Star Movies, in particular).

Every time executive assures that some senior person will call me to solve my query in 24 Hrs and I haven’t received any call till now.

Finally, I called up again at 11.04PM, 2.09.08(only time I could connect after my day long try) and the executive, Satyajit, as he quoted his name, gave me worst possible experience of Customer Care in India.

He could barely speak in English.(I chose English as option of communication) Very arrogant talk. When I complained about getting wrong info about packages while purchasing and requested about changing the package he started asking me to talk to people where I purchased the package and that he is not concerned about anything in that regards. After complaining about his language and way of communication, instead of apologies, he started talking abusively.

Think over it before buying, you may need to face humilation if you need to get something done @ Customer Care.

Hi guys,

I bought BIG TV STB on Sunday and was expecting the installation to happen on same day as promised by call centre executive. Do not expect that fast and prompt service in Pune. .

Well got it working in a days time and reliance guys were quite cooperative. The signal quality I could see in STB’s meter was’Good’.

The STB comparison bet’n BIG TV & Tata Sky(I have that at other home)

  1.  BIG has component Output - very stable picture with sharp colors

Tata Sky has only video out apart from coaxial RF out.

  1. The buttons on BIG STB are more user friendly

  2. The remote is less bulky in BIG, though I feel it could be much smaller

  3. The cable connectors are equally good as Tata Sky and much better than that of local cable wala.

  4. The audio in both is just stereo. No digital audio option as well.

  5. The BIG STB has some kind of USB port on its back.

  6. The dish is quite bigger than other operators’, resulting in lesser noise in signal reception.

Lets talk about user interface.

I was quite use to with TataSky interface which I felt was very interactive and easy, the BIG betters in this area at some places and need some modifications at others

Better:

  1. The interface is quite intuitive.

  2. The option to get info is quite easy

Need improvement

  1. Change language / subtitle option shall be easy

  2. Program schedule for 48 hrs / 1 week like Tata Sky would be a welcome move

OverAll

Its good and worth for the money one pays. Ya sometime you start loosing channels. I lost Star Movies while watching. I hope it was kind of Initial stabilization phase jerk.

Update: I lost all channels for really long time yesterday night. I did not check in morning. Not sure whether back?
