The Big Flix advertisements are misleading on a number of accounts.
To begin with, the company claims to be Indias largest rental service, which is proved incorrect after even a cursory glance at their titles available for rent at its website. Most titles asked for are unavailable, and a large number are available only on VCD, which isnt disclosed up front.
The fact that VCD is a rather obsolete medium and can deter people used to watching DVDs isnt addressed at all.
Secondly, the company claims to pick up and deliver all DVDs within 24 hours. I joined BigFlix.com on June 9, after paying a membership fee. I was informed that my account was now active. By June 13, I had yet to receive a SINGLE title, despite promises that all new members receive DVDs within 24 hours.
I complained daily, between June 10 and June 14. Nothing happened. I emailed various departments at the company on June 13, and was told my problem would be addressed within three days. Today is June 19, and I have yet to hear from them.
On June 18, I finally had to go to a BigFlix rental store in Andheri to pick up a DVD myself. A traffic jam on JP Road meant I had to pay a rickshaw Rs 35 to get to the store from Andheri station, and another 25 to get back. This means I paid Rs 60 just to get a DVD that was supposed to be sent to me free of cost.
Not only are the advertisements HIGHLY misleading, this is a company that makes promises it has NO intention of keeping. I wish to warn users from being conned into becoming members of BigFlix, hence this message.
