BigFlix sounded so good when I heard about their service Rs. 299/- and you may watch up to about 10 to 25 Titles in a month. I subscribed for a month to see how it works. This is what I learned from one month of subscription
A good collection of movies, documentaries, easy to use user-interface(online) *
Extremely poor service at store and home delivery is pathetic. Forget getting a
DVD
or CD delivered on Sundays
You get to queue movies and titles of your choice for so many months (I queued about 52 titles, hoping it will be good for next three months)
Customer care suck big time, as the reps who pickup calls has no-clue what-so-ever about their services and offers
The cost is really competitive. My local
DVD
lending library lends me all latest
DVD
(of course pirated ones) for Rs.15/- per title
Half the time the DVDs or VCDs that I rented never worked. No because of region code but scratches and damages
All DVDs, CDs are originals (BigFlix does not believe in piracy (at least for now)
You are never given a phone number of the local delivery center to report any CD or
DVD
A very good collection of Documentaries and
Hollywood
latest and classics
You queued title is never delivered on the day you wanted it. They always tell you those titles were not available and so had sent you another disc from the queue
Except
Hollywood
and Bollywood you get titles from your grandfather’s age only. (those marked as latest release is usually about the
DVD
release and not the movie or documentary itself)
BigFlix has titles with regions code 0 to 8 and so you don’t get to watch all of them until and otherwise you have DD player with region code set to ZERO
There are more chances that you really PHAKUP you
DVD
player after changing you region code for 4 times and then you
DON
’T get to watch any more original
DVD
of other regions other than the last set one
If you forgot to make a “pick-up” request before 10am each day you get to loose that day of delivery or pickup unless you have a store with all collections that you wanted somewhere close to you.
Membership card and Cancellation is a myth at BigFlix.
Any request made through your account settings online to customer care, never reaches them.
If you have decided to cancel your membership forget your deposit amount. (I guess this is where they make money)
Cancellation will attract all the fee for those days you have not take a
DVD
from the date of your membership expiry to the day of your cancellation accepted (not the day you requested for cancellation or your email was received by them). Even otherwise you never get you deposit back so don’t worry about calculating the number of days you lost the rent
For subscribing to their service you need just the money and no other documents for proof of identity or address/ residence
For cancellation you need all kind of Documents like your birth Certificate, your caste certificate, your school certificate and a letter from the headmaster of the school where you did your kindergarten
My latest email to BiGFlix and their reply on cancellation
