Bigil-inspirational

I saw it finally on the big screen with English subtitles. What a film it was! Vijay's previous action films Mersal and Sarkar have blended popcorn entertainment with fresh stories and socially relevant messages. Bigil is no different as it experiments with a new genre hybrid: the sports action film. While Indian cinema has produced a number of sports "dramas"that are all about rising, falling and emerging victorious ( due to which they often tend to be predictable) , Bigil being a sports action film is special because it brilliantly combines "mass"action with football: something totally fresh and out of the box. Kudos to Vijay and Atlee! Vijay has almost always delivered great performances, but with his performance as Rayappan, he has proved that he's indeed perfect at playing characters elder than his own age. His dialogue delivery and expressions as Rayappan were really touching, and I could feel his pain whenever he spoke. Even as Michael, Vijay is excellent and you can feel his character has gone through a lot of things, and deserves to succeed. Nayanthara's character is also well written, and she delivers another stunning performance. Others such as Daniel Balaji, Jackie Shroff and Indhuja are also impressive. The action sequences are stunning, and you know that from the moment you hear it's a Vijay film. One of the most impressive ones was the bike driving stunt which I felt looked really heart-pounding. The fight sequences are masterfully choreographed and backed by strong emotions, due to which I felt for the characters. Music is also good, and the production values are impressive. Bigil is a perfect action entertainer coming from the blockbuster combo of Vijay and Atlee. This film didn't only leave me stunned and entertained, but also had me thinking about it even after it was over. This is the kind of film of we want to see on a grand festival like Diwali. Language shouldn't be a barrier when it comes to appreciating a well-made film.
