It is the story of a poor villager, **Billu(Irfan Khan), ** who earns his bread and butter by running a hair cutting salon.
He doesn’t have much money to furnish his shop in an attractive way and so, faces tough competition from another neighbourhood shop which is more ‘modern’ in its outlook.
Billu’s life takes an unexpected turn when a film company decides to come to his village(Budbuda) and people came to know that the hero of the film, a superstar named **Sahir Khan(SRK)** is Billu’s friend.
Suddenly, the otherwise neglected Billu and his family(wife and two children – a girl and a boy) became the centre of attraction and everyone started showing respect towards them. Billu gets quite confused by this unexpected attention but had to give in to the flow.
Everyone started requesting Billu for a favour to arrange a meeting with the superstar. In the meantime Billu’s shop was flooded by customers and finally the family could see some good fortune. He tried hard to meet Sahir Khan but could not.
Suddenly, the whole village turned into a foe as people started thinking Billu had bluffed. He was taken to police custody and the poor family lost all dignity and credibility. However, the superstar still remembered his childhood friend Billu and talked fondly of him in a speech while attending a school function in the village. That was the climax and finally Billu and his family regained pride.
**Analysis:** the story is a bit different and treated well. The set and the characters look real. The congested chowk of Budbuda with people sitting in the roof of the bus is a very real picture. The dialogues are well written and their rustic tone will surely attract you.
The comedy is situational and not forced.after a long time from Priyadarshans stable. in recent past, his movies became quite loud. but this one is different and have those earlier charms. Irfan Khan is as usual superb as Billu. He emotes optimum. Neither less, not over the top.
The scenes where he is trying to maintain his dignity as a poor ‘no one’ is really appreciating. Lara Dutta is gorgeous and delivers a nice performance as a rustic woman.( I was feeling almost frustrated to see such a slim mom of two….). SRK plays himself. There are cameos from Om puri, Rajpal Yadav etc. that creates a lasting impression. Overall, a nice, enjoyable movie. However, the songs are not at all impressive.
