Plot outline
Billy Elliot is an 11-year-old boy every morning his father gives him fifty pence to go to boxing class and he is not good at it. One day a lady comes with a group of little girls, they start ballet dancing class just beside the boxing class. Soon Billy found himself fancy ballet and could not help himself to start practice ballet with girls. The ballet trainer Mrs. Wilkinson sees Billy is a talented boy.
Meanwhile his father and brother are participating in miners strike, the atmosphere in the small town is tense. Miners are struggling.
Billy’s father and brothers don’t allow Billy to learn ballet when they know it. Because they think only female and buggers dance ballet. Billy’s mother has died quite some time ago and his grandmother is not completely aware of what’s going on. Mrs. Wilkinson’s altruistic help encourages Billy keeps on training secretly.
Billy’s great passion in ballet and his talented dancing conquered his father’s heart. His families start to support his dancing. Finally, Mrs. Wilkinson and Billy’s father managed to get Billy an audition for the Royal Ballet School, since then Billy starts the way to achieve his dream.
My thoughts
It is a fantastic movie! Jamie Bell’s performance is natural and outstanding. Joy and tears are with me through the film. I watched it twice in a day.
There are two main things impressed me most.
I. When you find yourself in great passion about something, do not worry about too much, just go for it!
II. No matter how tough life is, one should never forget to discover beautiful things in life. Even now I remember how Billy’s dancing shows energy and beauty, through his dancing one can feel what a wonderful world.
