Really predictable trash

I wouldn’t bother seeing this film. It has a very predictable plot and is a waste of some decent acting talent. I got this film out because I had not seen a hindi film for a while. My video library only stocks a few and I didn’t want to see anything too highbrow. Maybe I should have.

The film stars Salman Khan, Karishma Kapoor, Sushmita Sen, Anil Kapoor, Tabu and Saif Ali Khan. The main protagonists are Salman, Karishma and Sushmita. To cut a long story short Salman and Karishma are a happily married couple with the obligatory 2 cute children and dog. Salman is an add executive who hires model Sushmita Sen likes what he sees and has an affair with her. He manages to set her up with a nice house, car etc about a 10 min walk away from where he currently lives. Karishma finds out about Sushmita predictably on the night of Kadva chauth and throws Salman out of the house to move in with Sushmita. Karishma then vows to get her husband back.

This is the start of elaborate plans involving children, mother in law and best friend of Salman and his wife played by Anil Kapoor and Tabu. Anyway to cut a long story short Karishma gets Salman Khan back when Anil persuades Sushmita to leave him alone and go back to former love Saif Ali Khan (who is in the film for all of about 5 min)who was only rejected because he was poor. Personally the Saif guy should have told her where to go but I guess in the name of comedy they wanted a happy 3 couple ending.

I did sit through it but fast forwarded all the songs as they were not worth listening to. I kept watching the film in the hope that Karishma would throw Salman out in the end as the Salman character was a real piece of trash and that sushmita’s character would get her comeuppance but NO I was sadly disappointed. Tabu was included in the film purely for comical interlude scenes with Anil Kapoor that were not very funny. If they’d used Tabu as the Karishma character and had a single Anil Kapoor they could probably have made a mildly more interesting square love story. Although I think the film is classed as a comedy it wasn’t as such it was pure torture by about the 1hr mark. Biwi No1 it might be called but a number 1 film it wasn’t.
