Today I decided to watch the newly released movie Blackmail. I went to the nearest movie theatre with some of my friends and better half too.
Blackmail, directed by Abhinay Deo, starring Irfan Khan and Kirti Kulhari in the lead role with the likes of Divya Dutta, Urmila Mantodkar and Omi Vaidya in supporting role is a very mild dark comedy film. You will find Irfan Khan very funny in his character and you may also get connected with the film as it depicts the situations that a middle-class family goes through in their daily life but still the storyline is very weak and boring.
It was very hard for me and my friends to spend 2 hours 20 minutes there.Reflecting on the story in a brief, Irfan Khan is playing the role of a toilet paper salesman and he used to send SMS to his wife each and every day before arriving home.
One day, he decided to surprise his wife by gifting her a rose flower romantically and he didnt send her any message about his arrival. After reaching home, he found that his wife is in a compromising position with her boyfriend.Firstly, he decided to kill his wife but later he changed his mind and started blackmailing his wife by making her video. Now the actual story starts about how he does all these things while handling his daily life struggle.
The director tried a lot to make story humorous and exciting but he failed to do so. The movie has some twist and turns but that isnt enough to make audience awe.
Performance of Irfan is awesome but he is the only one who has shown some acting skills, rest of actors are just making the atmosphere of theatre too dull and moronic.
My final verdict: Dont waste your time and money on a film which is lacking a good storyline and the music was also daffy and half-baked.
Thank you!
