Amazingly Perceptive

This is one of the better books I’ve read, period. I found The Blind Assassin through Time Magazine’s list of 100 greatest novels and moved her to the front of my reading list because she is one of the few surviving authors included.

I highly recommend it. I can’t disagree with any of the previous review accept to add this one item that most impressed me.

There are several times when the narrator says (ostensibly to friends or family that might survive her and read the book), ’’you may have already figured this out...’’ Each time she says this I had, in fact, just figured it out. What a creepy feeling. I would go back and reread those last few pages to see if there was any obvious hint of this plot twist that is so slyly revealed and found none.

Ms. Atwood may be the most perceptive (as far as the reader’s reaction) author that I have ever read.

I would also like to say to my fellow readers who avoid science fiction that these portions of the book are short and painless.
