**You can 'call my bluff' anyday my bluffmaster**

DING!

And the word is; “call my bluff.”

Theory of Person A: “In prehistoric times, fishes used to be able to converse to humans, in English! Actually, fishes were considered inferior to the human race, and I strongly believe they still are. Anyway, fishes used to have pets called ‘bluffs’, so if a dog said, “call my bluff” then he/she would be referring to his/her respective pets. However, sadly, fishes don’t have the ability to talk nowadays.

Theory of Person B: “Call my bluff isn’t originated from anything as complicated as that. In fact, ‘bluff’ is simply a word for the sister of the daughter in law of your best friend’s wife’s brother’s niece. So when attempting to call the sister of the daughter in law of your best friend’s wife’s brother’s niece, simply use “call my bluff.”

Theory of Person C: “Call my bluff? ‘Bluff’ is just a word for blue fluff. So in theory we are saying, “call my blue fluff bluff!”

‘Call my bluff’, for those of you extremely confused people out there, was a really antique television show that aired in the UK. The aim of the show was basically to name a word almost unheard of to the contestants, and watch them attempting to find some kind of meaning from them. The judges (normally weird lunatics who have nothing better to do) would then choose either the answers closest to the real meanings, or the most outrageous answers.

So, how the hell does this have any connection with the Bluffmaster album? Well, like ‘Call my bluff’, it can have a variety of interpretations, and you can choose to take them in any way you want. Basically, you either love it or you hate it. And Chandra is not calling your bluff when she says that she adores it! :-)

Sabse bada rupaiya: This is the title track of the movie, and immediately adds a kind of ‘goldigger’ feel to the album. The lyrics express how money is the greatest thing in the world (going totally against the saying “there are more important things than money”). It’s a pretty funny song, with some odd lyrics like “ek leader ko dekho he is looking for every francs, udata phirta dinner in hotel sun and sand” but the song is sung very well by Chetan, Mehmood and Saira Hussain, with a somewhat western feel with it. But then again, nowadays, what songs are sans English lyrics?

Say Na Say Na: This is a Punglish…or is it Engjabi song sung by Arash. Its got a very bhangra type feel to it, excellent for dancing to. But I thought that neither the music, nor the lyrics were anything new, just your average everyday Punjabi music with some Western words twined in. Its tune reminds me of some Girls Aloud music! The lyrics don’t make sense in some parts, but it is a great song to sing along to! “All ya thigh gals in da house, if u feelin wat im feelin then shout it out, all ya desi boys in da house, jus put your hands up and join the crowd.”

Tadbeer se Bigdi hui Taqdeer: This is a remix of the original, sung by Geeta Dutt, and like most remixes, I definitely prefer the original, although this version isn’t too appalling. Its got the usual faster beat and English words mixed into the song, and isn’t actually very long, which is definitely a plus point for it!

Right Here, Right Now: This is seriously my favourite track in the whole album! And I guess one of the main reasons is that the male playback singer is none other than Abhishek, singing alongside Sunidhi Chauhan! (He looks so gorgeous in the video of this song!) He can act, he can sing, wah wah! This track starts with a round of “Come to me”, and has a kind of Arabian feel to it, which adds to its appeal! This sounds like an Indian version of R ‘n’ B music, with some off beat music. The lyrics are great too: “ek mai aur ek tu hai, aur hawa main jaadu hai, aarzoo bekabu hai.”

Do aur do paanch: This is the second remix in the album, and creates a much better effect than the first one attempted to! It is a remix from the song sung by <>Kishore Kumar, and also has some snippets with Abhishek Bachan singing too. The greatest singer meets the cutest actor. What a combination! ;) (hehe, ok, I’ll shut up about Abhishek Bachan now!) This song has a really techno beat feel to it, and is perfect for clubbing and dancing the night away!

Indi: It was so funny when I was listening to this song, but not really paying attention to it and all of a sudden I heard “isiliye mummy ne meri tumhe chai pe bulaya hai!” I had to go back and listen to it again, it’s a mixture of this song and ‘Eena Meena Dikha’. Saira Hussain sings it in a surprisingly low voice, which is pretty amazing! I can give credit to this song for being very unique, like most of the tracks in this album, and is definitely worth a listen!

Parde ke peeche: Again, this is sung in Saira Hussain’s dulcet but fabulously unique tones, and is a great fusion of both English and Hindi https://lyrics. Its beat isn’t too fast, but can definitely have you tapping your feet. Saira Hussain’s voice in this song reminds me of Enrique’s “I Try”, which adds to the appeal of the song. The song has a really mysterious feel to it, which is not surprising considering the name of both the film and the song itself!

Well, this film has many more tracks worth listening to; 9 Parts of Desire is another danceable tune, The Gateway Theme takes some time to grow on you, but it sounds sweet, Neela doesn’t have any lyrics, but has a great retro beat to listen to, Bure Bure sung in Iranian and then there’s the Right here Right now Remix and Come Fishing (theme tune of Bluffmaster which are also certainly worth a listen!

Wow, this album definitely has a load of tracks, but I assure you that every one has its own different kind of appeal to it! I think this album introduces what we call “Generation X Music”, full of remixes, modernised yet retro tracks, and some great Indo-Western mixes! It’s not like the usual ‘full of romantic songs’ albums, but still manages to make me love it!

And if you tell me you didn’t like a single song in this album, I know you’ll be Calling my Bluff! :P

Don’t forget to RRC…and say Good Luck to Abhi! :-)
