Bombay 405 miles is one of the hit movies from 1980. The movie has action, comedy that’s what I expect in a movie. I catched this movie 2 times on set max channel on cable, I thought it was pretty funny film. The music is by kalyanji anandji, dialogues by kadar khan and someone unknown director.
The film has a good starcast starring vinod kanna, shatrughan sinha, zeenat aman, pran.amjad khan, devan varma, helen, iftekar and raza murad.
The film is about two thieves Kishen(shatrughan sinha) who can open any lock in the city as he demonstrates in the court room, the judge order kishen to be banned from the city for two years. Then there is kanhaiya (vinod khanna) who is in the same proffession and is also banned from the city for 2 years. The police bus drops them off in a another city.
They both meet and become very good friends, as they are in same profesion. They decide to hitch a ride through a goods train to bombay. While on this train they come to a rescue of an older man with a female child named munni. On his last breath the old man tells them to take care of munni as millions of money is involved. Greed overtakes both and they take the child them in order to locate her parents.
Unable to find anyone they give an add in the newspaper and demand a lot of money from veer singh (amjad khan) who answered the advertisement. What kishen and kanhaiya don’t know is that the official munni is dead along with her mother and brother by veer singh, which he blame on his stepbrother ranvir singh (iftekar).
Kishen and kanhaiya find themselves immersed in a web of lies and deceit as they try to find out what the truth is. Kishen and kanhaiya starts to care for munni and now they don’t really care for the money they just want to find out who her real family is and why they are trying to kill her. Along the way both are helped by radha (zeenat aman) and masterji (pran).
The film doesn’t have that much good music, only song is good with vinod khanna and zeenat aman singing, sung by kishore kumar and asha bhosle are ho gaye aap ki kasam.
The performances are pretty good- Vinod khanna as usual does a good job as a small time crook and brings in some laughs, along with shatrughan sinha as kanhaiya is also good, I prefer him do villain roles. khanna and sinha have lot of movies together, do yaar, dost aur dushman, aap ki khatir etc. Zeenat aman is alright. Pran as usual is good. Amjad khan as always shines as the villain and looks scary with long sideburns. Devan varma is funny as the haircutter. Everyone else acted pretty good.
Overall a decent timepass I would reccomend then today’s movie.
